MISSION

Every Maryland school has a Student Assistance
Program known to all so students involved in
substance abuse and other
harmful behaviors can be identified and helped. 		To provide education, training, and support to
Student Assistance Professionals so they
may effectively serve students identified with
substance abuse and other harmful behaviors.

GOALS

  • Provide training and support for core Student Assistance Teams.
  • Gain recognition of and acceptance for the Maryland Student Assistance Program.
  • Provide an evaluation for MSAP and correlate with other data.
  • Pursue funding to support MSAPPA initiatives and programs.

NEW MEMBER TRAINING
Locations, Dates, and Directions

EVENTS
  • Annual Conference in February.
  • Student Assistance New Member/Team
    Training in fall and spring, and as requested.
    (sponsored by the Masonic Charities of Maryland, Inc.)
  • Team Chairs Symposium in March.
  • Team rejuvenation training as requested.
  • Resource to local school systems to
    assist Student Assistance teams.

MEMBER SERVICES
  • Workshops and seminars at annual conference.
  • Periodic newsletter.
  • Access to membership in the National Association of Student Assistance Professionals (NASAP).
  • Participation on MSAPPA committees and election to MSAPPA Board of Directors.

EXPECTATIONS
OF
MSAPPA BOARD MEMBERS
Board members are expected to attend all scheduled meetings of the MSAPPA Board and/or committees in their entirety, in addition to the annual MSAPPA Conference and the Board of Director's retreat. Each Board member is expected to serve on at least one committee of the Board of Directors and be willing to chair that committee.

MSAPPA COMMITTEES
Membership on the Conference, Publicity, and Training Committees is open to all MSAPPA members.
