Kathy Hennings, President khennings@bcps.org
Kathy Hennings has been a school nurse at Loch Raven High School in Baltimore County for 27 years. Her involvement with the Student Assistance Program began in 1989 as a team member. Since that time, she has assisted with new member trainings, served as the team chairperson of the school's SAP Team for 14 years, and has been a member of the MSAPPA Executive Board for the last seven years. Coordination and planning of the annual MSAPPA conference has been Kathy's primary responsibility while serving on the board. She was elected as President of MSAPPA in 2005.

Shirley has been a school nurse in Baltimore County for 23 years. She has chaired her school's SAP team since its existence. She has served on the Executive Board of MSAPPA for seven years, has been Vice President of the Board for three years and chairperson of the Training Committee for four years. She was the recipient of the MSAPPA Student Assistance Professional of the Year Award in February 2001.

Amanda Pence is a 23 year veteran of the Balitmore County Public School System. She presently teaches at Loch Raven High School with a dual certification in Health Education and Family Studies. She has 9 years experience serving on student assistance teams at the middle and high school level and has 4 years of service as chairman of the student assistance team at Perry Hall High School. Currently, Amanda serves on the student assistance team at Loch Raven High. Amanda served as past secretary of MSAPPA and is a member of the MSAPPA Training Committee. She is an NSAA member on the national level with attendance at the last 7 national student assistance conferences.

Darleen Kahl is currently the Safe and Drug-Free Schools Coordinator and Health Resource Teacher for Charles County Public Schools. Her duties include health education curriculum, peer leadership, student assistance, staff wellness, after school programs, non-violent crisis intervention training, FISH Philosophy and True Colors trainer. Before her current position Ms. Kahl taught in a high school for twenty-two years.

Sandra Armstrong
Sandra has retired from Montgomery County Public Schools after 32 years of service. The last 16 years were at Sligo Middle School as a Special Education Instructional Assistant. While at Sligo she sponsored the School Community Action Team providing drug prevention activities with students then served as the Student Assistant Team Leader for 9 years. Sandy now works for Safe and Drug Free Schools as a support to Student Assistance Teams within Montgomery County. As a member of the MSAPPA Board of Directors she has served on the Training Committee, Conference Committee, and Chairperson for the Elections Sub-committee for three years.

Dan Burdette is a Pupil Personnel Worker for Howard County Public Schools. Prior to this position he served as the Center Director for a Job Corp Facility. In addition to his involvement with Student Assistance and the MSAPPA Board, he is involved in a number of community and civic organizations.

Mike Codori is a career educator, filling roles as a teacher, administrator, and intervention specialist in Montgomery County from 1966-1005. Currently a consultant and trainer in Student Assistance, he has published articles in the Student Assistance Journal and his first book, “The Care and Feeding of the Core Student Assistance Team,” was published in 2004. He has been a member of MSAPPA since 1996 and has served as vice president and president. He resides in Rockville.

Lorelee has earned her B.S.N., M.S. Degrees.

Janet Fountain
Janet Fountain is the Supervisor of Special Programs for Caroline County Public Schools. She also serves as the Coordinator for Student Assistance Teams for Caroline County Public Schools. She has worked with student assistance for several years in the capacities of Teacher, Assistant Principal, and Principal.

Susan Mills smills@dhmh.state.md.us
Susan Mills is a counselor with the Behavioral Health Unit of the Garrett County Health Department. She is a Nationally Certified Addiction Prevention Specialist, a Certified Prevention Professional in the state of Maryland, a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor as well as a certified classroom teacher. She has been active in the fields of prevention and intervention for the adolescent population after being trained in the Pennsylvania Model of Student Assistance in 1990. Additional training includes various state models of Student Assistance and Group Facilitation Skills. Since that time she has worked with core teams in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Maryland. She has also worked on the collegiate level with Peer Education at Frostburg State University. Currently she serves as a member of four school teams in Garrett County, providing screening/counseling services, and facilitating school based support groups for high risk adolescents. Susan also has presented educational programs at prevention conferences, school classes, faculty meetings, and community groups.

Dominic has recently joined the Student Services and Alternative Programs Branch at the Maryland State Department of Education. He had previously worked for the Queen Anne's County Public Schools for 36 years in a number of capacities. He has been actively involved with the SAP since 1987 and has served on the Board of Directors since 1998.

Dr. Geraldine Smith has been an educator in the Baltimore County Public Schools System since 1973. She is currently the Department Chair of Guidance and Counseling at Milford Mill Academy in Baltimore County. She has served as Chairperson of the Student Assistance Team at Milford Mill Academy since 1997. In addition to her work with the Student Assistance Team, she serves as the school liaison to the office of Safe and Drug Free Schools and has written several grants to improve school climate. Dr. Smith has been an Adjunct Faculty member at Bowie State University since 1999, where she teaches graduate courses in Counseling and Educational Research.

Darryl is a 19 year veteran of the Baltimore County Police Department and currently serves as a School Resource Officer. Darryl is also an Assistant Principal at an alternative evening high school within the Baltimore County Public School System. Darryl is the owner and Hunter-N-Associates, a motivational speaking business and is a consultant for Aha Process Inc, a company committed to elevating people of poverty across the world. Lastly, Darryl serves as the Chairman of MSAPPA's Publicity Committee.
